Parliament, Tuesday, 4 November 2025 – The Joint Standing Committee on the Financial Management of Parliament (JSCFMP) will conduct a visit to the parliamentary construction site tomorrow to assess progress on the Rebuilding of Parliament project.
Following the January 2022 fire, which destroyed the National and Old Assembly buildings, it was agreed that the JSCFMP, which has oversight of Parliament’s financial management, would also oversee the rebuilding project, as well as the interim arrangements for constructing alternative office, committee meeting and plenary spaces.
Since January 2022, the JSCFMP has been receiving regular updates on progress in the investigations into the fire and the reconstruction project. The progress reports have continued in the Seventh Parliament.
Following the site visit tomorrow, the JSCFMP will, on 6 November 2025, receive a comprehensive progress report on the rebuilding of infrastructure destroyed in the 2022 fire and related matters.
